The Thean Hou Gong Walkaround

Hello hello! I have just finished my finals so I found sometime to update my blog on a recent "walkaround" I did at Thean Hou Temple. I have not heard of this temple before and only heard of it when my dad told me about a photography competition organized by the temple in conjunction with CNY.

Was thinking of joining the competition as it was film competition but my schedule was so hectic that I only had time to visit it last week, the dateline was two weeks ago :(

Any whoser, Thean Hou Gong is really a large temple, considering the fact that it is within KL and land is always scarce in KL. It is one of the oldest temples in KL and it is always well decorated during the CNY season.

There are many classical and intricate art and sculptures found around the temple.

The temple is covered by a sea of lanterns during the CNY season, a real great sight to capture.

I visited the temple last Saturday, if i am not mistaken it was the 13th day of CNY and many people could still be seen performing their rites.

Some lotus cake-candle thingy

The interior of the temple, where believers could be seen offering their prayers.

With that, this brings an end to my short photo-exploration of the Thean Hou Temple. Till next time!

View From The Sea

Took these pictures a while back, but have been really caught up with work and studying. Was pretty free this morning so I decided to process these images.

These pics were taking on the journey back from Penang aboard the ferry.

Used some HDR tone mapping to try to get a well balanced lit picture.

Played with some grain to get a "film effect"

Well there you have it, my take on Penang island from the sea. Till then!

Melody's Short Casual Shoot

Was in Penang a couple of days ago to visit some relatives for CNY.

Decided to shoot my cousin during the last day of my trip, and this was a very impromptu thingy, so this shoot was done in a short period of time.

This is my cousin, Melody. She is super vain so doing this shoot was not a problem for her :D

The weather in Penang was excruciatingly hot! Standing in the road for 10 minutes would make the back of your t-shirt stick to your back.

The shots are simple and very "Family outing like" not really much of a portraiture, cause this was a very last minute thing

But still, I managed to get the shots I wanted and I am quite happy with most of them.

My recent shots have been subjected to alot of criticism,I don't know could this be due to the fact I have not been shooting alot lately or is it just the fact that I have not been putting effort in my shots as I did before.

Anyway can't be bothered so much by haters, let haters be haters. I have my finals to concentrate on! Till than

CNY!CNY!CNY!

What did I do for CNY? Well i basically traveled about 80% of the North-South Highway. On Monday I headed down to Johor and on Wednesday I headed up to Penang. Literally just reached back from Penang a few hours ago. Is it possible to get car-lag from traveling up and down?

Anyway was in Johor, my dad's side and my Dad's place is in a Kampung area so the place was lit up very well as it was an old Chinese kampung. There were alot of temples in the area too so it was the place was really well decorated and was well in the CNY spirit.

Some "Bokeh-balls"

 And some "tanglung-balls"

Visited an old folks home during the second day, been doing this for almost 3 years with my family.

It's nice to sit once in awhile with the old people and hear about their stories

Will update more. Really tired at the moment now. Gong Xi Fa Chai once again :D
