Back Alley Shoot and Post Processing Practice

Headed to Kuantan a few days back to help Wee Phei Yee with some chores.
Decided to do a different theme this time from our usual "beach sunny theme" which we always do whenever I return to Kuantan.

Dabbled with a little abit of strobing with a homemade, Pringles tube snoot and flash gun positioning.

As you might notice in my previous shoots I NEVER post-process as I find it such a hassle and a waste of time, well guess what i am hooked on post processing, there are so many options in post processing that it is really worth the hassle and time.

This was by far the hardest picture to process, Wee Phei Yee had a really really red face at that time in the original shot, as it was really hot. Took me so long to process this picture as i did not want to lose too much detail in my post processing and at the same do not want to leave the picture too "unprocessed"

Shot all the pictures in RAW, and it is definitely better to post process RAW and there is minimal detail loss when you process your pictures in RAW. The downside though, RAW format is really RAW, the white balance, exposure and saturation are not recorded by this file format and all processing has to be done from scratch.

My post processing skills is still kinda bad, hence the bad images you see here I hope i did not make you choke on your coffee after seeing these images,

Overall there is still alot to learn in shooting in RAW.

Comments and criticisms are well welcomed, so tembak away la..

Fun At The Fun Fair

Was in Kuantan lately, for a short holiday after finishing my musculoskeletal finals. Did a mini shoot to brush up my night portraiture.

What better place than a fun fair to do a night shoot, able to dabble with some long exposure shots.

Some rear flash sync.

Some of the photos appear OOF as long exposure portraiture is really hard and it takes loads of trials and errors and a really cooperative model, which I have :)

The merry go round a.k.a the ring of flames.

Some roller coaster thingy.

Oh ya before i forget, most of the shots were taken using a flashgun, fired wireless from the top to illuminate the model.

Trying out some ghosting effects.

Overall a very productive shoot, loads of mistakes made, but loads of new things learnt.

Comments well appreciated as i know i have done loads of mistakes and pointing it out would help me :)

CUCMS ShuttleMaster Badminton Tournament

Was invited by the badminton club of CUCMS a.k.a as The Shuttlemaster Club to shoot their badminton event last Saturday. To be honest I am not really into sports photography (well except for Formula 1) as it is really hard to shoot fast moving subjects.

Nevertheless i still gave it a shot, cause "Belum cuba, belum tau ma", and yeah it's a good thing to stray away from the usual "potrait niche" sometimes and try something new.

Some rear flash sync shots, still experimenting with this flash mode.

Found it hard to freeze motion cause my 70-300 Tammy ain't fast enough and I had to bump my ISO higher cause the lighting in the building is a little dim

Nevertheless I did get some great shots

The pictures are a little noisy as I had to bump up the ISO to 1600 to get a shutter speed fast enough to freeze motion.

More reasons to get a 70-200 f/2.8 VR muahahah.

More experimental shots which according to Soon, sucks :(

Frustration and fatigue starts to creep up to some players.

Alright, lastly some Panorama shots stitched together using Photomerge

That's it folks, will be away for a week as i have to prepare for my Musculoskeletal Finals. Ta Ta.
