Monkeying Around With Speech Bubbles

I have been taking loads of pictures since i bought my camera about 3 months ago. One thing i really hate is post production as i can't seem to get an idea how to use Photoshop, most i will ever do is use Lightroom to balance the colours, exposure, etc.

So that day when i was browsing the web i stumbled upon a great tutorial on how to do the easiest "Photoshoping" ever. Speech bubbles. The easiest and the most effective editing process in my opinion to add more "story" or "life" to your pictures. Oh ya before i forget here is the link for the tutorial:

Turn an innocent picture into a naughty one.

Night Shooting

Haven't been playing with my camera recently as I am kinda hooked up with studies and other commitments, nevertheless, whaddayaknow? A new post! 

I recently bought a tripod, have been using a lot ever since. Mostly for night shoots and product shoots. Well here are the "fruits of my labour" of my night shoots which i have done recently.

Teluk Chempedak Baywatch shoot

Was in Kuantan for a couple of days during the weekend with Phei Yee. Decided to shoot a few pictures of her as she was looking for a blog header picture. Headed down to the beach at about 6pm and started shooting.

As you can see the monsoon season is over so the sea has a more blue colour. Compared to last time when i came, the sea was a murky brown colour.

Decided to use my tammy 70-300 as i was still experimenting with this lens.

Did a very productive shoot , covered almost everything i wanted and ended up with almost 100 shots. What you are seeing here are the best shots which i have picked and which are processed.

The wind gave a nice effect to most of the pics as we managed to shoot some very "hollywoodish" shots

"The staring pensively into the ocean shot"

Check out the green in this picture. My tammy does a great job in producing rather punchy and vibrant colours.

Lastly, my favourite shot, looks like a baywatch TV ad shot eh? Comments are appreciated.

The Tamron Portraiture First Assignment

Took my new 70-300mm Tamron for a test drive on some portrait shots. 

Important pointers however on this lense:

a)I learnt that this lens is super super soft (well it can mean a good thing or either bad thing to your preferences on how you want your pictures to turn out)

b)Picture quality wise, this lens produces superb images, punchy colours, great great features, sharp at almost all focal range (It does however becomes really unstable at 300mm, had to reduce the aperture by a few stops down)

c)The bokeh for this lens is pretty darn awesome.

d)It is quite accurate in it's autofocus and quite fast considering the fact that this lens has a pretty high focal range

e)Chroma abbreviation does appear when photos were taken at high contrasting conditions, but it's not that bad and can be corrected by a little PP

f)One of the best investment so far for me. Muahahaha.

Amazing bokeh eh? Its definitely more unique than the kind of bokeh you get on Nikon lenses.

The picture has been given a colour treatment but as you can see the lens is pretty sharp at low focal lengths.

The lens has some pretty punch colours as can be seen in the next photo. 

An example of chroma abbreviation caused by the lense and if you notice this image is really soft. Had to push it down a few stops to achieve decent sharpness.

All in all it is a very good lens considereing the price i paid for it. It does give some amazing results when used in the appropriate conditions.

My Long Hard Black Tammy

I received it today. My 70-300mm Tammy. Bought this lens on PM for a very good price. Thinking of dabbling into some wildlife/macro/portraiture photography. Cause i see pro always shoot portraits with telephotos nowadays. Yala i know the use 70-200 2.8 and mine is like f4-5.6. But I'm super cheap so this will have to do for now

She came in a gold box. I could feel her plastic long,hard black body pulsating in my hands.

When she is fully erected her length is this long.

Ok bout the lens. It sucks at low light. With low light sure die. Super slow shutter speed and the lens is kinda heavy so the pictures appear super shaky.

When in bright light it does give a nice bokeh and the pictures appear quite sharp. Picture wise, its quite awesome under sufficient light. The colour is well absorbed and the features are quite sharp.

Min Focal length is 1.5m. But if your taking above 180mm theres is a Macro mode. Well its actually nothing much, it just decreases your focal length by 10cm.

But the one thing i love most about this lens is the Hamsap mode. 300mm leh.. Thats like 6x more than my 18-55
